Principal & Founder of Balance Media, Trip has filled many passports with stamps from projects around the world. He got his start creating kayaking videos, then began working with National Geographic. In 2007, he was named National Geographic Adventurer of the Year Honoree. He's won dozens of awards including Banff Film Festival's Best Film on Mountain Environment. Now Trip focuses that same passion on making sure every project is creative and impactful.
SARA QUINN
Sara Quinn is a videographer and editor in Portland who has been making award-winning films and shorts with Balance Media for ten years. She shoots, edits and makes map animations for the popular PBS show Weathered. She was Editor for the feature film Elemental that unravels the complex human relationship with wildfire. With a background in cultural anthropology, Sara brings the slow, intentional approach of ethnography into her storytelling.
Ryan walsh
Ryan Walsh has produced and edited the award-winning PBS series Weathered and Weathered: Earth’s Extremes, having been with the show since its inception. His passion for climate and science communication led him to documentary storytelling, where he now collaborates with leading scientists to translate complex ideas into compelling, accessible narratives. Ryan specializes in making big-picture environmental issues resonate with popular audiences.
Imani Johnson
Imani is a journalist and documentary film producer based in New York. An alumnus of NYU, she graduated with a B.A. in Journalism and Africana Studies with a minor in Documentary Film in 2019. As a multi-platform producer, she's worked in TV, radio, and film with a specialty in long-form documentary content. Over the past four years, Imani has worked in every stage of production-- from development to delivery of feature-length and documentary series that have appeared on networks like HBO, Hulu, Netflix, and Peacock. Her body of work amplifies the influence, complexity, and beauty of diverse voices.
